Southern-Style Creamed Corn

Southern-Style Creamed Corn

(Makes 6 servings)

Ingredients:

6 medium ears fresh corn
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup half & half or milk
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon white pepper 



Directions:

Cut corn from cobs, scraping cobs to remove all milk.
Combine corn, butter and water in a heavy saucepan.
Cover and cook over medium heat about ten minutes or until corn’s done, stirring occasionally.
Combine remaining ingredients, beating with a wire whisk until cornstarch is blended; add to corn, stirring well.
Cover and cook 3 minutes or until thickened and bubbly, stirring often
